Wow…Just Wow

Now we all know that everyone here at Thrasher keeps a close eye on fashion, but this story just blew me away.  Thrasher appreciates art, fashion and all forms or artistic culture!  However, being in financial services we have to draw the line somewhere and we think Christian Lacroix saw that line, crossed it and then turned around, gave it the finger and then spat on it.

The house of Christian Lacroix had filed for bankruptcy in a Paris court.  Lacroix himself is contractualy obligated to stay with the company for another year and it is expected of course for job cuts to follow VERY shortly.  What is shocking to us is the fact that in its 22 years of existence Christian Lacroix has NEVER returned a profit.  I understand that couture is art and the world needs art, but you will be doing a disservice to the world if you are unable to product your art because your system was never set up to sustain itself in special circumstance like these when investors are not as apt to loosen their purse strings!

We say the above not to be mean but more in the spirit of a loss that turns to anger and frustration because on top of the sad news that Lacroix has filed for bankruptcy. Lacroix is now unsure whether or not it will be able to go ahead with its July courture show.

We hope this turns out well…
