It seems that as each new day arises another story unfolds about just how hard the recession is affecting Americans. It’s never the unemployment numbers that shock me the most its the more intricate and specific stories that always seem to surprise me. One such story today is news that the NY Daily News newspaper will stop contributing to its employees 401K plan. CEO Mark Kramer issued the following statement.
“Unfortunately, this negative trend has continued into 2009. . . We do not know how long the current financial crisis, and the dramatic decline in advertising revenues, will continue. So we must do everything possible to ensure that we match our costs with our revenue.”
