Bottega Veneta: Recession Influenced Fashion
Tuesday, January 20, 2009 17:35Bottega Veneta is definitely known for their distinct attention to detail and craftsmanship. And their Fall 2009 collection does not deviate from this aesthetic. This collectin is a combinatin of the stylistic nuances we have come to expect from Bottega with an influence by the recession.*
For fall, Bottega Veneta presents a collection highlighted by the cardigan. The palette is quiet and subtle, with colors like bone, graphite and chocolate brown. The materials are worn and weathered. There are sturdy cotton, rugged denim and worn leathers. Perfect for the recession affected consumer who desires clothes that endure the test of time and their wallet!
says Creative Director Tomas Maier. “Bottega Veneta’s sensibility is always understated, but I think a certain gentleness is also right. So we started with the cardigan, which is soft and unassuming but also confident and timeless.
Another aspect of the collection influence by the recession are bags. The bags seem to be designed to meet the demands of a busy and hardworking individual who is concerned about function and fashion. These bags are meticulously handcrafted, (its Bottega Venete afterall) and beyond extremely functional. There are satchels built to carry notebooks, lapbtops and even gym clothes!
“It’s an unusual time, obviously, and we thought very carefully about what it is our customer wants and needs right now,” - Creative Director Tomas Maier.
